Why You Should Hire A Second Shooter For Your Wedding!

5 REASONS TO HIRE A SECOND SHOOTER

First off, what is a second shooter anyways?! A second shooter assists the main photographer during a wedding day. This person will help with everything from carrying gear and bags to shooting the entire day. Some photographers work consistently with a second shooter and some prefer to go solo. Personally, I couldn’t imagine shooting such an important day without a little extra help. After all, I am am only one person! Although I would love to be in two places at once, we all know that is physically impossible, so here are 5 reasons why hiring a second shooter is so important!

1.     Catching extra moments

One of the biggest reasons to hire a second shooter is that they will catch some special moments that your main photographer can't. For example, while the bride is walking down the aisle the main photographer will be catching her while the second shooter will be catching the look on the groom’s face. If that isn’t a selling point then I don’t know what is!

2.     Groomsmen getting ready shots

Wedding days can get pretty hectic, especially when the photographer is having to run back and forth between the bride and bridesmaids and the groom and groomsmen. By hiring a second shooter your main photographer can stay with the ladies and the second shooter can head over to capture the guys getting ready.

3.     Bad luck…

Camera cards fail! It sucks when it happens and although your photographer will do everything they can to avoid this it can still happen. By having a second set of photos of the most special day of your life you can avoid having nothing just in case equipment fails (Knock on wood).

4.     More Images!

This is a given but I wanted to bring it up anyway… By hiring two photographers you will get more images! Who wouldn’t want that?!? When shooting a wedding I typically give my clients about 1500 images and then 500 from the second shooter. Remember, this is the most special day of your life… make it count!

5.     Save some time

The day will go faster when you have a second shooter take group shots and individual shots of the groom and groomsmen. This way you won’t have to do this after the ceremony which is usually THE most stressful part of the day.

I hope that these five tips give you all a little insight into whether to hire a second shooter or not. See you all next time!

XOXO, Lauren
