Los Olivos Family Portrait

Hi all!

The Santa Ynez Valley is well known for its wine but it also has many hidden gems like Matties Tavern, in Los Olivos. While Los Olivos has its small town charm I am always drawn to the history of Matties tavern. Matties is one of my all time favorite family portrait locations and for the Reynolds family it was a match. Considering that the matriarchs of the family were married there. This meant so much to the family to be able to do their family portraits at at a place that had such great history for them. After almost getting rained out of this session we were met with gorgeous light that can only come after a storm.

When working with a larger family i find that it is easier to get a more candid reaction from everyone. I try to avoid the cookie cutter “Smile for the camera” shot repeatedly. Although I will pose you and your family for a few of those photos I will also let you just be you! I find that my favorite images are when everyone is interacting and smiling. Because lets be honest, even though family portraits are your husbands worst nightmare it doesn’t have to be true! My goal is for everyone to enjoy their time together. Most of the time I get a “That was actually not too bad” at the end of the session.

P.S. Scroll through these images to see some REAL candid brother reactions ;)

Enjoy!
